LAS HEARUTSUSU F.C. , to translate it simply means The Hearts F.C. Though we’re not the strongest team around in the social soccer arena, but I hope we can play as a team with our strong passion for the game and strengthen the bond among the members which will last us for a lifetime. After today’s match, it come to shows that commitment of some players is a suspect! For the players who played in today’s match, I appreciate your effort (Kenny you better get your boots ready by the next match!) and I apologise for letting my temper got the better of me. For those who were injured or post me an advance notice, I appreciate the arrangements and I hope that you guys can recover soon and join us in future matches. For those who gave last minute notices (os should I say excuses), maybe its time you consider looking for other teams to play for as we cannot accept this irresponsible attitude. If a player who is injured (Sheng Jie) can rush down from camp just to play for the team, why cant you? Maybe you think that we’re just going to lose another match and your presence doesnt make a difference but let me tell you this. Bring a recorder, film down the whole match! We’re improving! I may not be the nicest guy on the pitch (as Kenny and Kai Pin can tell you), but all I want is to have a team, which comprises of all the friends I have met along my life, who will want to come together and have fun by just kicking a ball. Its alright if we doesnt win, just as long as we play for each other and at the end of the day, strengthen the bond that have brought us all together. Think about it guys. Till the next match, take care!

Match Report for LHFC vs DSTA Team (10/2/07)

10 February 2007

Las Hearutsusu 2 DSTA Team 2

(Samuel 1, Kenny 1)

Starting Line-up

Line-up

Guo Yong, Zhi Yuan, Joel, Kelvin Lin, Sheng Jie, Samuel, Kenny, Yen Sun, Hak Liang, Kelvin Goh, Kai Pin (Jia Yinn)

Before we could even have our game, our guys had an even harder time trying to locate where the Tanglin pitch was. And so, on this secluded field, we had our 6th game, and it was up against one of our previous opponents, the DSTA team. However, it was an under-strength team as they turned up with only 9 men (with the 10th guy appearing at half-time). Easy match you think hah? Well, you’re wrong!

Las Hearutsusu welcome a new cnetre-back, Kelvin Lin, and also another new utility player, Lim Jia Yinn in this match. We started aggressively, trying our best to make our numbers count. Chance after chance came in but the deadlock was not broken. Then came the undesired! After a couple of corner kicks by the opponents, they finally made one count as their player caught Samuel sleeping away and nod home from the near post. 0-1! That served as a wake up call as we went in search of our goals and it didnt took too long as a cross from the unmarked Kelvin was about to reach Kenny. With 2 defenders on him, the pressure paid off as Kenny failed to made connection with the ball but it went to Samuel instead and he volleyed home to make it 1-1!

2nd half, with the opponent coming up with one more player, breaking down their defence wasnt easy. Wave and wave of attack fail to materialise as players were caught off-sides time and again and tiredness was starting to set in. So, with LHFC losing our concentration midway through the 2nd half, the opponent’s striker sneak in behind the defence and lob over Guo Yong. 1-2! To make matters worse, our key player Sheng Jie had to be “stretchered off” due to an injury. Thumbs up to him though as he insist on playing though he have already suffered from a muscle pull previously. With the clock ticking down and the prospect of another defeat looming, our never-say-die attitude came to our rescue again! A long punt from defence found Samuel as he went 1-on-1 with the opponent’s goalkeeper. His failed attempt to lob resulted in Kenny having the task of sending the ball into an empty net. 2-2! And so the whistle went off!

Well, everyone put in their effort for this match but performance was not up to standard as we didnt made full use of the extra players we have. So, for the man-of-the-match award, it isnt going to Samuel, nor Kenny, nor Kelvin, instead, its going to the REFEREE! No, you’re not seeing the wrong word, its the REFEREE! Thanks to him, we were able to allow our play to flow at times and also thank him for his useful advices.

Match Report for LHFC vs IndianTeam (3/2/07)

3 February 2007
Las Hearutsusu 1 Indian Team 3
(Samuel 1)

Starting Line-up

Line-up
Guo Yong, Kelvin (Jun Xiang), Joel, Ci Yuan, Zhi Fei (Daryl), Yen Sun, Chew Teng, Sheng Jie, Kenny, Raymond, Tim

After a month of break from soccer, partly due to the rain lately, LHFC is back into buisness today! For the 1st time ever, we have almost the entire team available with the addition of new players. The goalkeeping department welcome a steady and reliable Guo Yong, in defence we have Ci Yuan and in midfield we have Yen Sun. With Kenny assigned as captain, the overall play was pretty organised, with chances for Raymond and Tim which unfortunately didnt end up in the back of the net. Just when the half was about to end, the opponent took advantage of a goalmouth scramble to score and we head into the half 0-1.

2nd Half

In order to give some of our players more match exposure, in came Daryl, Jun Xiang and Kai Pin while some of the key players took a break. Samuel took over from Kenny for the captain role and the 2nd half begin. A miscommunication betwen Joel and Guo Yong led to a slip up and allow the opponent to make it 0-2. And just when we thought it was our chance to steal something back, the opponent cleverly broke our offside trap to make it 0-3, making it hard for us to come back. However, with our never-say-die attitude, we made sure we didn’t went home empty-handed. A wayward cross by Samuel was picked up by Sheng Jie who send in a precise cross. With the opponent’s goalkeeper focusing on Kenny, Samuel sneak in to hand home an unmarked header to make the score 1-3, his 2nd in 2 consecutive match. With the key players returning to the pitch, LHFC pressed on but was unable to carve out any other chances. Whistle blew, a 1-3 defeat!

For a long time, LHFC have been searching for a reliable No.1 and today we seem to have found the answer. Though Guo Yong was unfortunate to allow a slip up leading to the second goal, if not for his heroics and vast experience in goalkeeping, we might have ended up with a much heavier defeat! So, on his debut, Guo Yong have been chosen as the Man-of-the-Match for LHFC! Congrats!
