Match Report for LHFC vs Kelvin's Friends (31/3/2007)

31 March 2007

Las Hearutsusu F.C. 2 Kelvin's Friends 2

Line up (8 v 8)

Jia Yinn (7/10), Joel Thong (9/10), Yen Sun (8/10), Kelvin (7/10), Samuel (7/10), Jun Rong (7/10), Timothy (6/10), Jerry (6/10)

After a few weeks of break, LHFC held a training match with Kelvin's Friends (majority from Red Ants FC as they are known) at a pitch in Hougang. It was a 60 min match with only 16 players involved. As many of the 1st team players are unable to play, this match provide the other players to claim their stake in the team. We welcome back Jun Rong after being sidelined for a niggling ankle injury.

With Guo Yong unavailable, Jia Yinn was deployed as the man between the posts. His goal kick found Jun Rong who turned and slotted the ball to Jerry. Without any further hesitation, Jerry toe-poked the ball to give LHFC the lead. However it was short lived as the opponents grabbed 2 goals in quick succession to snatch the lead. We continue to search for the equalizer though and finally some link up play between Timothy and Samuel created one just before the end of the match and so it ended 2-2!

On the whole, it was a decent performance as most of us perform consistently. And once again, Joel Thong is our Man-of-the-Match for his tough-tackling and no-nonsense defending! Keep up the good work Joel!

Man-of-the-Match: Joel Thong

Match Report for LHFC vs Fraternite F.C. (3/3/2007)

3 March 2007

Las Hearutsusu F.C. 8 Fraternite F.C. 1

In our first unofficial match, we came up against a young and energetic Fraternite F.C. With their youngest player being only a 13 year old and the fact that we were playing with one man less, making our physical presence count was our obvious tactic. 3-3-3 was the formation of the day, with 2 newcomers being Melvin and Joel (Kelvin’s cousin). The condition of the pitch was pretty bad and opening exchanges between the team was sloppy. However, a short punt forward by Joel found Jack and he lob it over the on rushing goalkeeper to open the scoring. Crosses by Melvin, Kenny, Jack and Samuel then added another quartet of goals with scorer being Jack (2), Samuel and Kenny. A penalty was given to FFC for an infringement on their player. However, the taker was unable to convert the kick and we went into the break leading 5-0.

In the 2nd half, we decided to slow down the pace as we went from 3-3-3 formation to a 4-3-1 formation. We took the opportunity to play some passing game and it was good practice as they were some pretty good play. Jack added another tap-in midway through the half to make it 6-0 before the opponents pull one back from a counter attack! To round up the match, Samuel made it 7-1 when he dribbled past 4 players to put the ball into goal. Jack rounded up the match when he received a cross from Melvin for a simple tap-in. 8-1 was the final results. As it was an unofficial match, there were some pretty controversial calls, such as one where Melvin shot appeared to head into goal but was disallowed.

Thumbs up to the young guns of Fraternite F.C. for putting up a fight. Though we were complacent at times, but nevertheless, it was a good effort and I hope to see more of the teamwork and work rate displayed in today’s match in future matches too! Jack Moy, after an absence of 6 games, returned with 5 goals today. Man of the match performance! *¡Buenos individuos del trabajo!

Man-of-the-Match: Jack Moy
